shower ran at full speed then tripped RCD

Hi. Recently when switched on the pump would run at full speed only, and then since yesterday the unit trips the ring main RCD even when not running (so the isloator is now off).

Do you think this will be fixed by a new PCB unit, or another part? Is that straightforward to fit for someone comfortable with DIY?

This fault can be caused by a faulty PCB however it is more often caused by the motor being faulty.

As you don’t mention it’s approximate age it is difficult to judge whether it is better to replace it or repair it
