Can't move dail

Hi,I fitted this shower about 2 years ago.It has never been used due to us having another shower room.We have started to use this shower now.The problem is that we cannot move the tempreture dail.It is stuck on number 7 which is an ok temp to shower in.I don't know when i fitted the shower whether the dail had been turned to much with the front panel off.I'm Thinking of isolating the shower from the water and mains then i will attempt to turn the dail using a pair of pilers.Do you think this might be ok.

it maybe that the lubricating fluid in the above has dried up or seized. Gently using pliers may move it.
