Temperature control on 3/4" Dual Control Valve

I have a Hudson Reed 3/4" Dual Control Valve (exposed). It hasn't been used for a while and now when trying it, the temperature control is not behaving properly. There seem to be two scenarios. The first is that when you switch on the shower it is really hot and cannot be turned down enough to be bearable. The second, more common, one is that the temperature stays luke warm even when turning the control to max. Even unscrewing the temperature handle and pulling it out slightly so that it can be turned the the absolute max, doesn't make it go hot in this situation. Any ideas what I need to fix it? Thanks!

The internals are likely to need re greased and this should solve the problem.

When reassembling the shower , make sure that the "E" clip/circlip, goes on the spindle at the furthest groove away from you.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give that a try.

Any particular type of grease I should use? And should I be greasing anything in particular or just everything that looks like it moves?
