Shower scorching hot after fitting

After replacing the cartridge with the new one, the shower is now scorching hot and turning the temperature handle has no effect



i noticed there was a plastic bit inside the inner end of the cartridge, does this need to be removed somehow before fitting it?

I think you may have just fitted the handle in the wrongposition.

 

Remove the handle and turn the spindle of the cartridge toadjust the temperature, when you get a comfortable showering temperature refitthe handle in the mid way position.
