While sleeping pump started to make noises like start stop. Erratic then quiet. Started again so switched off. Left overnight then switched back on and it was quiet for about 1 minute then started Again???

This would suggest that there is water passing through the pump making it switch on or the reed switch is faulty or has been knocked out of place.

For water passing through the pump check that your toilet isn't overflowing, to check the reed switch actuators you can disconnect them from the PCB or swap them over
